The Balm En Root Dry Shampoo

Picture Taken from The Balm
Are you in a hurry? Are you tired of washing your hair everyday? Are you looking for an alternative to hair wash and would want to protect your hair?

Then DRY SHAMPOO is the perfect product for you!!!

DRY SHAMPOO is not a popular product in the Philippines. It is quite limited but I happened to stumble upon one when I visited Beauty Bar Trinoma.

Here are my thoughts. :)

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
"Revive your hair between washes with this Paraben and Sulfate-free Dry Shampoo for girls on the go! It's the ideal time-saving alternative to a hair wash and blow dry (Source: The Balm)."

PACKAGING:
Like most The Balm products, it has a catchy and girly girl packaging. It has a tall, slim can which is easy to hold.

However, the spritz nozzle is faulty. On my first use, it worked well but on the second, nothing came out. When I asked the store to replace it, they asked me to try it out in the store and it was great. I checked the product after 2 hours and saw it leaked. I noticed that there was air coming out of the nozzle!!! I had to re-adjust it as to prevent the product from leaking. :(

Store the product in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and heat for it has a tendency to evaporate. Prevent from shaking it or putting it inside your bag.

SCENT:
It has a mild floral scent. When applied on the hair, it is not overwhelming.
APPEARANCE:

When sprayed on the hair, it comes out white.

CONSISTENCY:
The spritz nozzle sprays a good amount of product. Not too little, not too much.
PRICE:
P745 available at Beauty Bar Trinoma
HOW TO USE:
"Spray onto dry hair, holding bottle at least 6 inches from your scalp. Concentrate on roots and move through your hair to get a fresh, clean look before styling (Source: The Balm)."

MY THOUGHTS:
On my first use, it felt great. It doesn't leave a white or gray cast onto the hair. It absorbs oil fairly well and doesn't leave an overwhelming scent. Application of product varies depending on your hair condition and hair type. :)

My problem with this product is the SPRITZ NOZZLE. :( Like I mentioned above, it is faulty!! :( I have to be extra careful when I use it as not to waste the product. I sent my feedback to the staff of Beauty Bar Trinoma and even sent a review over TheBalm.com. I even heard from the staff that they have received a memo regarding The Balm hair products (my interaction with the staff is a different story). This means, complaints are pouring!!

Final thoughts? I won't buy it again.

L'Oréal Professionnel Série Expert Vitamino Colour Masque Treatment

Picture Taken from: Look Fantastic

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Targeting weakened areas of the hair, L’Oréal Professionnel série expert Vitamino Color Masque wraps each hair with a lightweight film to protect and strengthen it against everyday wear and tear, for intense shine and colour vibrancy in just one minute.

(Source: Look Fantastic)
PACKAGING:
It is 200 ml. It comes in a lilac colored jar with hot pink inscriptions.

SCENT:
It has a clean and fresh scent.

APPEARANCE:
The product has a baby pink color. :)

CONSISTENCY:

It is quite runny unlike most hair masque. It feels smooth and glides easily on each hair strand. It can be easily absorbed by the hair too. :)

PRICE:

P845. Not too affordable, not too pricey. Available at Fix and other salons.

HOW TO USE:
  • Smooth into towel-dried hair and allow to work for just one minute before rinsing.(Source: Look Fantastic)

MY THOUGHTS: I
L'Oreal is known for their hair products. I've tried some and was fully satisfied. :) The L'Oréal Professionnel Série Expert Vitamino Colour Masque Treatment (what a mouthful) is not available in the grocery or department store and may only be bought from the salons. I've searched high and low for a masque suited for my preference. This has everything I ever needed: moisture and treatment!

It is one AMAZING mask. :) Here are the reasons why:
  1. I like the color of the product. :)
  2. I love the mild scent! Not fruity or musky. Just refreshing!
  3. I love the texture of the product. It is gentle on the roots and it is easily absorbed by damp hair. 1 minute on your hair can do wonders. Longer sitting time would be better. :)
  4. My hair never felt this gooood. :) It feels soft, smooth, no-tangles, fresh, and clean!!! Love it!
This is similar to the treatment for color treated hair (help me recall which one). :(

This is a must-try hair masque! :) Thumbs up! :)

(Source: Maybelline)

PACKAGING:
It has an indigo rocket-like shaped packaging with hot-pink markings. The mascara wand has a rigid core with micro bristles. It is quite bulky and chubby for a mascara.

Tony Moly Lovely Eyebrow Pencil 06

I was on a hunt for a new eyebrow kit to fill in my eyebrows and to groom it as well. I am very unhappy with my old purchase (the one from NYX) because it was too difficult for me to do my eyebrows while on public transportation. Plus, packaging is totally broken now. :( I had to use a rubber band to secure it.:-/

I went to check the products in Tony Moly in Eastwood and saw this product. :) Here are my thoughts. :)

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Korean inscriptions. What's new? :( It has 6 shades which ranges from dark grey (01) to medium brown(06).

PACKAGING:

It comes in sleek black pencil type packaging. It has dual-ended tips: one for the eyebrow pencil and the other one for the spoolie brush.

SCENT:
It doesn't have one.

APPEARANCE:
The shade I got is 06 has a medium brown color perfect for ladies with colored hair.

CONSISTENCY:

It glides easily on your skin and blends well with eyebrows.

PRICE:

P148.

HOW TO USE:

Lightly fill in your brows with the eyebrow pencil and groom with the spoolie brush.

MY THOUGHTS: I

I like products with double purposes and this one is the perfect product I've been looking for. :) It helps me do my brows while on commute and no need for me to worry about bringing out a gazilion stuff just for one simple task. The spoolie brush helps groom the hair and brushes out excess powder. :)

It is very affordable and great for every day use. :) It is a 2-in-1 product. :)

Nature Republic Shine Blossom Blush

One of the "pasalubongs" from my Dad after he went to Korea is a blush from Nature Republic. :)

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
All the inscriptions are in Korean. :-/

PACKAGING:

It comes in a durable paper container (eco-friendly) which has removable cap. It has a cute white puff and a plastic covering to protect the blush.

SCENT:
Smells like powder. :)

APPEARANCE:

Peachy color with a slight shimmer. :)

CONSISTENCY:

It feels soft and made out of very fine powder. Very blend-able on the skin. :)

PRICE:

This was only given to me as a gift. :) Based from what I saw on other sites, its P295 (?)

HOW TO USE:

Using the puff or any powder blush, gently dab or brush over the cheeks to give that rosy glow.

MY THOUGHTS: I

Let me start this by saying, I LOVE THE PACKAGING. :) It looks very luxurious and expensive. :) I like the scent which smells fresh while I apply it on my cheeks. It is very blend-able and gives you a natural flush. :) It gives great color pay-off and very pigmented. :)

Though, it is quite bulky to put on your make-up kit. But nonetheless, I would use this everyday. :)

Product Match-up: St. Ives Apricot Scrub Versus Burt's Bees Peach and Willow Bark Deep Pore Scrub

Have you ever experienced being torn between two options and don't know which one to choose? Or buying a product that you have tried and tested for many years but willing to try out and discover something new instead?

Yes, I know the feeling. There are hard-to-choose-between-the-two sort of feelings which happen everyday. With the food that you eat, the clothes that you wear, the activities that you do, or even the products you buy. It is a difficult process.

But, if there are people who can help us decide (such as myself, ehem ehem!) then life would be a lot easier. Don't you think?

Let's get started with my latest torn-between-the-two products. The tried and tested one versus the try-something new product.

My Thoughts:
I've been using St. Ives Apricot Scrub ever since I was in High School. It is very affordable and can be easily found in most supermarkets and grocery stores. I like how it smells and the texture. It does give an intense exfoliation while you scrub it on your face because of the grainy texture of the granules. What I don't like about it is the scent when you do not store it well. If the cover or the product gets wet (or placed in a damp area of the bathroom), after some days it will smell spoiled or not fresh. :( You have to keep it in a cool dry place. :)

With the Burt's Bee Peach and Willow Deep Pore Scrub, I find it expensive, boring, and non-exfoliating. :( It is 500% more expensive than that of St. Ives; it doesn't have an appealing scent (which I always look for in a product. Plus factor!); and the texture is not what I look in a scrub. :(

If I were you, St. Ives is a better buy than Burt's Bees not only because of the price but also the quality, quantity, availability; and the exfoliating factor of the product. :)

Sorry Burt's Bee, but St. Ives won. :)

Ziaja Goat's Milk Day Cream For Dry and Wrinkle Prone Skin 50 ml

Are you looking for an affordable moisturizing day cream? Then this is the perfect product for you! :)

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
  • For dry and wrinkle prone skin

PACKAGING: The moisturizer comes in a white jar with a twist-able cap.

SCENT: Smells like soap. :-/

APPEARANCE:

White cream

CONSISTENCY: I like the consistency of the product. It is quite thick like whipped cream.

PRICE: P295. Not bad for a moisturizer. :)

HOW TO USE: Apply a small amount of cream and smooth it over with a delicate patting motion.

MY THOUGHTS: It is a very moisturizing product and leaves your skin hydrated the whole day. It doesn't make your face sticky and oily unlike most cream-based moisturizers. It is a great make-up base as well. It is affordable and is great for those with sensitive skin.
One thing I don't like about it is the scent. :(

Thumbs up for the Ziaja Goat's Milk Day Cream! Great product!! :)

L'OREAL EVER PURE Moisture Conditioner

For the past month, my hair felt dry and brittle. I've changed up my hair routine from washing my hair every 2 days to washing it everyday. I liked the feeling of fresh hair but then my hair turned really dryyyy and brittle. I decided to go back to my normal routine and it slowly became better. :)

But then, I decided to buy a conditioner fit for color treated hair. I've been hearing about the L'OREAL range from different YouTube Beauty Gurus and decided to purchase one for myself. I've tried it many times and read on to know my thoughts about it.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

  • Anti-fade system
  • UV filters
  • No drying salts
  • Natural botanicals
  • 100% vegan
  • Moisture Conditioner

PACKAGING:
The EverPure comes in a purplish metallic plastic tube packaging with a hot pink cap. It looks and feel expensive.

SCENT:
The description says with Rosemary Mint and Romarin Menthe. It smells very manly. Like that of men's deodorant. :-/ The scent is very overwhelming.

APPEARANCE:
Plain white color.

CONSISTENCY:
It has a light consistency. I was expecting it would be thicker because it says on the description "Moisture." Same consistency as any of the other typical conditioners you see on the market.

PRICE:
P449. Expensive for a conditioner. But is it worth it?

HOW TO USE:
After using EverPure Moisture Shampoo, apply to wet hair and massage gently. Leave on for a few minutes. Rinse thoroughly.

MY THOUGHTS:
Honestly, I don't like it. First, the scent is horrible. :( Next, it is not as moisturizing as it claims to be. Lastly, it is expensive and doesn't have any remarkable results.

I give it a thumbs down. Sorry, but it is not worth the hype. :-/

The Face Shop Black Head Clay Nose Pack

Hello! I'm back! I'm so in the mood to do a blog after my long hiatus. June was a very busy month that's why you weren't able to hear from me. July was even busier. But because of the "rest" we are experiencing right now, I have time to do a review on the new products I've been using. :)

PACKAGING:
The nose pack comes in a powder blue tube. The front part has embossed letters and drawing. It's lightweight and easy to carry around. Ideal for traveling. As usual, the back part has words in Korean. However, the ingredients list and directions are in English (at least!)

SCENT:
Smells like glue. :-/

APPEARANCE:
It comes in an off white color.

CONSISTENCY:
It has a similar texture than that of glue. It is very sticky and may harden easily.

PRICE:
P300+.

HOW TO USE:
Apply an even layer on nose area. Leave on 10-15 minutes or until it gets completely dry. Gently peel off from outer edges.

MY THOUGHTS:
I've tried it more than 4 times already and asked my boyfriend to try it as well. It is very easy to apply. A pea-sized amount would do (not unless if you have a ginormous nose ;P ). It spreads easily on the nose area and may feel a little tingling sensation on most parts. Once applied, it easily tightened and hardened. I let it sit for more than 15 minutes and gently peeled it off. On my first try, it was painful. :( Maybe because it was my first try but my tolerance to the pain lessened due to continued use. Yay! As I peeled it off, I saw white heads on the dried pack and a few black heads. :) But of course, it can't penetrate the deepest dirt on your pores. Don't expect too much.

But so far, I like the product. It removes dirt from the upper top layer of the skin. It can give slight irritation to people with sensitive skin. So use with caution. :)

TBS Sweet Lemon Body Scrub

The Body Shop recently had an amazing SALE last week and I got a chance to purchase 2 scrubs for P995. It's a great deal. I'll do a review on both. :)

The Body Shop Sweet Lemon Body Scrub 200 ml (Price: P995)

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
BEST IF YOU WANT TO: Reveal your skin's true radiance with a polishing scrub enriched with luscious lemon seed oil that will leave your skin soft, smooth, radiant and delicately scented with an uplifting citrus fragrance.

BEST FOR: normal to dry skin

How it works:
  • Lemon seed oil is high in anti-oxidants and Vitamin C and helps moisturize and soften the skin.
  • Lemon peel and exfoliating Community Trade organic sugar helps to polish and remove dead skin cells.
  • Community Trade organically grown soya oil is rich in essential fatty acids to help restore the skin's moisture barrier, thus helping to restore moisture and smoothness.
Source: The Body Shop

PACKAGING:
It comes in a lemon yellow twist-able plastic container. It has a transparent body which helps see how the product looks like, similar that of the rest of the body scrubs from The Body Shop. It has a different lay-out design from the olive one. It mentions which skin type it is appropriate for.

SCENT:
It has a subtle sweet, citrus-y lemon scent. It smells refreshing and clean.

APPEARANCE:
It has a translucent lemon color with very few visible granules.

CONSISTENCY:
It has a different consistency than of the olive scrub. It appears thick but it is not creamy. It is more on the oily side. It has very fine granules which dissolves easily on wet skin. When applied on dry skin, it falls off and clumps together.

PRICE:
It's quite expensive but as I said before, if it provides good, quality ingredients then it's worth it. It has a lot of product inside so this might last you for months (depends on how often you use it).

HOW TO USE:
Apply the product on wet skin. Rinse (with or without soap) and pat dry.

MY THOUGHTS:
When I tried it out for the first time (on dry skin), the granules clumped together and was difficult to work with. Some granules fell on the floor and it didn't give me a thorough scrubbing action.

The granules dissolve easily on wet or dry skin. It leaves a sweet, oily residue on your body. As you rinse it off, the oil remains on your skin. I tried not to rinse it out with soap, but I did not like the sticky and sweet feeling. As I tried to rinse it off with soap, that sticky and sweet feeling remains though it lessened a bit.

I'm not a fan of this scrub. If you are the type who likes the residue or oily film it leaves on your skin, maybe this is the perfect scrub for you. As for me, no thanks. I will continue to use it, but won't repurchase again.

TBS Olive Cream Body Scrub

It's been awhile since I had a blog post. But now, I'm in the mood to do 2 reviews on my latest haul from The  Body Shop. :)

They recently had an amazing SALE last week and I got a chance to purchase 2 scrubs for P995. It's a great deal. I'll do a review on both. :)

The Body Shop Olive Cream Body Scrub 200 ml (Price: P995)

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
BEST IF YOU WANT TO: Reveal brighter, smoother skin with exfoliating crushed walnut shells and crushed olive stones in a creamy body scrub.
BEST FOR: normal to dry skin

  • Community Trade organic olive oil conditions skin.
  • Sunflower oil moisturizes and softens skin.
  • Carrot oil and root extract replenish lost moisture and nourish skin.
Source: The Body Shop

PACKAGING:
It comes in an olive green twist-able plastic container. I like how the packaging looks. The color is relaxing to the eyes.

SCENT:
It smells exactly like olives. The olive range has a consistent scent across products. If you are not familiar with the olive scent, it smells earthy, leafy, grassy, and fresh. The scent is not overwhelming.

APPEARANCE:
The scrub has an olive green color with brown granules.

CONSISTENCY:
It has a thick, creamy texture with numerous fine granules. It spreads and absorbs easily on dry skin and works great on wet skin as well. The granules don't fall off or dissolve like some scrubs I've tried in the past.

PRICE:
It's on the pricey side. However, just remember that the ingredients used and quality of the product fit the price. So it's worth it. :)

HOW TO USE:
Apply the product on clean, dry (or wet) skin. Rinse and pat dry.

MY THOUGHTS:
It is the most perfect scrub for me. I like the scent and texture of the scrub as it really helps remove dead skin cells and replenishes loss moisture. It exfoliates and hydrates at the same time. It has a lot of product inside and it's made out of quality ingredients perfect for the skin.

May Favorites

MAY flew by so fast, today is the last day of May. It means...it is time for my May favorites!!! :) Here are the products I've been using and loving for the past month!! :)

MAKE-UP and TOOLS:

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Sugar Plum (Price: P525)

People on YouTube and different blogs online have been raving about Revlon's Lip Butter. I love their color selection and the packaging as well. The cover almost reflects the color of the product and has a clear glass cover on top to see the actual shade.

It has a very mild scent and taste which you will barely notice! :) It glides smoothly on your lips and gives amazing color payoff. It is very hydrating  no need to put on lip balm. Sugar Plum has the same shade as my lips, only better. :)

Maybelline The Falsies Mascara (Price: P429)

This was part of my March favorites. This mascara has a nice wand which helps curl up my lashes. The formula is not too wet nor too dry. The consistency fits me well and it rarely clumps. :)

If you curl your eyelashes well and use this mascara, it gives that falsies effect!! Hence, the name. :)

NYX Powder Blush in PB07 Natural (Price: P280)

This has been my blush for the whole month. I like how pale it is and how it really looks natural on your cheeks. It's as if, you are wearing no blush at all! It does not have any shimmer and really looks natural. It gives you that glowing effect! :)

Charm Powder and Angled Brushes (comes in a set)

The brush set looks so cuuute!! I like that it comes in a pink and black color. The bristles are so soft it does not make my face itch at all! It's handy and can fit perfectly in my make-up kit. I like how chubby the powder brush is. I use it for applying my setting powder and my blush. Dual purpose. :) I use the angled brush with my eyebrow cake powder to fill in my brows.

SKINCARE:

The Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Boost (Price: P1450)

I'm in love with the smell of this product! It smells like Vitamin C! I use this over my moisturizer and it gives my skin a smooth finish. It's a great make-up base as it helps smooth-en out my BB cream to create an even finish. But I'm not sure if it does anything to help improve my skin. I'm still in the process of discovering this product. :)

BODY:

The Body Shop Pomegranate Shower Gel (Price: ?)

I have a love and hate relationship with this product. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't. Weird. It smells exactly like pomegranate: sour. I love most of the shower gel from TBS and so I learned to love this.

FRAGRANCE:

The Body Shop White Gardenia Body Mist (Price: P600+?)

I've been using this for the whole month. It looks heavy and made out of glass, but not really. It's very light for its size. I bring this everywhere I go and helps me feel fresh. It has a floral scent which most of you would like. :) The scent does not stay as long since it's just a mist but, whatevs. I like it.

NAIL POLISH:

San San Nail Polish in Sea Green (Price: P37)

I'm just in love with the color!! It is perfect for summer and brightens up your hands and feet. If I stare at them, it relaxes me. That's the reason why I love this oh so much. I like to purchase more San San Nail Polishes for they have amazing colors to choose from.
